The following ideas are suggestions for today, Wednesday, 8th April. Please feel free to adjust and build upon these ideas. Please don’t worry if you can’t complete all these activities. Please share any activities you complete today by placing the page etc. in your child’s folder and we will look over them when school resumes. Please go directly to my page to click on the active links below. Thank you for all you do!
Tomorrow has been designated a D.E.A.R Day. A drop everything and read day! It’s a chance to catch up! A chance to look back on the e-learning blogs so far and catch up or read for a day! My next post will be on Monday, 20th April.
Joke of the Day:
Why did the teddy bear say no to dessert?
Because she was stuffed.
Mrs. Costello, Mrs. Flood, Mrs. Wyszkowski, and I would like to wish all our Room 2 Families a very happy and blessed Easter. All our Room 2 Families are in our thoughts and prayers.
Our Lenten journey has been a journey of kindness and prayer. Please encourage your child to reflect on all the kind choices they made during this season of Lent.
On Easter Sunday please click on the following link to listen to the song Have your heard the news today? A song of hope!

Scientist Claire…Please click on the following link to watch Scientist Claire trying to make a bouncy egg! I think our Room 2 Scientists will enjoy Scientist Claire! Please have fun trying this experiment at home. We left the egg in the vinegar for two days so maybe try three days and then see if the egg will bounce!
Questions to consider:
What do you think will happen?
What does happen?
Why do you think that happened?
If you add food coloring to the vinegar you can make a colored bouncy egg. Also using a flashlight to look through the membrane is really cool! Please have your child draw and label a picture of the results. I would love to see a photo of our Room 2 Scientists!
Please click on the following link to hear again the book How Does Your
Salad Grow? by Francie Alexander. This time please focus on reviewing
the different parts of a plant. As you read the book together, please
encourage your child to point out and name the parts of the plant, such
as roots, stem, and leaves. An extension to this activity would be to
encourage your child to talk about the function of each plant part.
Build It With Clay…Please encourage your child to to use play-doh to
create a simple plant or flower, showing as many parts of the plant as
they can, such as the stem and leaves. I would love to see a photo of this
Salad Shopping List…Please encourage your child to brainstorm items
they would buy at the grocery store if they were making a salad. Please
encourage your child to write the title My Shopping List on the top of
their paper and draw pictures and/or rewrite words for some of the items on their shopping list.
Letter Recognition…Please help your child write the capital letters on a paper towel tube and their lowercase partners on dot stickers (Dollar Tree). Peeling stickers is a great way to improve your child’s fine motor skills. If you don’t have stickers, that’s okay, your child could make lowercase paper squares and stick them over the capital letters. I would love to see a photo of this activity!
Please click on the following links to view two videos to reinforce letter recognition.
